Triya is a co-led ensemble exploring the idea of creative interplay, treating both standard and original material as musical playgrounds for collective improvisation. Inspired by the history of ingenuity and innovation that marks the history of the piano trio, the three draw from and apply a wide range of influences and experiences, with a focus primarily towards rhythmic development and collective melodic structures. The three also use this trio to dissect the influences of their musical heroes, exploring and reworking the arrangements and originals of artists such as Brad Mehldau, Miles Davis, and Bill Evans, as well as their local heroes.
