Delay45 // The Pen Club (double album launch)

Doors at 5pm
$10 full // $5 concession

5:15pm - Delay45

Tom Avgenicos - trumpet
Roshan Kumarage - piano
Dave Quinn - bass
Ashley Stoneham - drums

Delay45 create contrasting sound worlds through songs, loops and colours that are weaved and morphed together through improvisation. Being mentored by some of the world's leading improvising musicians and many years of playing together has culminated in their shared improvisational language. Their debut album 'big ears' is the product of this process.

"One of the most gifted young musician/composers on Sydney’s creative music scene, trumpeter Tom Avgenicos’ quartet, with pianist Roshan Kumarage, bassist Dave Quinn and drummer Ashley Stoneham, is a very welcome fresh and exciting addition to Sydney’s current live music scene. A band to watch!" - Mike Nock.

“This is your playground. You are a beast in this cesspool of filth. Your concept oozes dirt and accumulates grit, filling the underworld with a stench so foul even the undead reconsider their obedience to your necromancy” - Mike Rivett

The Pen Club is a Sydney based improvising band that experiments with form, rhythm and writing implements. Long-form free improvisation is punctured sporadically by pre-composed, rhythmic loops in a location and order that is also improvised.

They are the first and perhaps only improvising band to be endorsed by BIC, the world leader in stationary. In collaboration with BIC, The Pen Club have just released their debut album ‘Data Retrieval’, the latest in a long run of incredibly successful BIC products. As with all great BIC products (think The BIC Cristal Pen and the BIC 4-in-1 Colour Pen), the album honours the BIC tradition of providing high-quality, simple, inventive and reliable products for everyone, everywhere, every time. Come to the Melbourne launch and experience the latest and greatest BIC product first-hand!

The Pen Club are BIC endorsed artists.
